One in 10 people aged 60 and above may have dementia. To effectively address this condition, people and organisations are working on the ground and encouraging others to create dementia-friendly communities. A variety of initiatives supporting the fight against dementia were highlighted on the 16 April edition of Channel 8’s Morning Express.

These programmes, designed to slow down the progress of dementia and create dementia-friendly communities, include the Walk2Remember Campaign, led by volunteers from NTU, which hopes to combat dementia in Singapore by encouraging intergenerational walking habits among seniors and their children.

Viewers were also given a brief glance into ADA’s new Enabling EDIE course, during which participants get to experience first-hand the challenges of navigating your home through the eyes of an elderly with dementia.

The clip also introduced viewers to the special dementia ward at Tan Tock Seng, and the therapies used to resolve some of the complexities of treating female patients with dementia.
