As part of this year’s Lunar New Year festivities, ADA and our dedicated partners set out to bring joy, prosperity and good fortune to our clients, caregivers and longtime volunteers!
Let’s look back on how ADA ushered in the Year of the Rat.
ADA Café & FOW (Toa Payoh) – 17 Jan
ADA Café and Family of Wisdom (Toa Payoh) held a combined early Chinese New Year reunion lunch on 17 January with clients, caregivers, partners and café staff all in attendance for the humble yet upbeat celebrations. Everyone soaked in the festive mood while feasting on a delicious buffet spread lovingly prepared by ADA Café – lemongrass blue pea rice, “fa cai” chap chye (mixed vegetables with gravy) and “huat huat” sesame chicken. Sweet treats included koi-shaped jellies and a traditional white fungus dessert. The event was also rounded off with not just one, but two performances by our guests – a ukulele performance and a sing-along session for all to join in the fun!
FOW Bendemeer – 20 Jan
ADA’s Family of Wisdom (Bendemeer) Centre celebrated an early reunion lunch with our beloved clients and caregivers, held on 20 January at Qian Xi (Farrer Park) Restaurant. With classic takes on popular reunion dishes, our clients, caregivers, partners, and centre staff feasted on dishes like steamed fish, braised abalone and the ever-popular fried rice in lotus leaf. The festivities also included lucky draw giveaways, mass dancing, and ADA’s very own conga “dragon” line!
ADA Café & The Ireland Funds Singapore – 4 Feb
After going through a complete renovation of ADA Café last year, the café hosted a celebratory lo hei-and-tea session on 4 February with our long-term partner, The Ireland Funds Singapore (TIFS). The tea session saw TIFS Chairman, Dr Stanley Quek, and ADA President, Dr Ang Peng Chye, presenting a commemorative plaque for ADA Café, in grateful appreciation of TIFS’s generous donations.
Edrington gifts to NHC Tampines – 6 Feb
Due to the COVID-19 developments, ADA had to cancel the original CSR activities planned between our long-term corporate volunteer, Edrington, and NHC Tampines. Despite the disappointment, our wonderful volunteers still decided to send over festive gift bags to ensure smiles all around, while our centre’s care staff put on a small-scale lion dance.
“Thank you Edrington for lovingly preparing Lunar New Year goodie bags filled with items like chocolate gold coins for our clients! Though we did not get to celebrate together due to the unforeseen COVID-19 situation, everyone was delighted by the kind gesture to courier the items over, and our staff are truly grateful. I hope that more organisations will come forward to support ADA’s programmes and services through corporate volunteering. We look forward to working with the society to continuously bring joy to and engage our persons with dementia!” said Mr Jothi, Manager of NHC (Tampines).
