Programme

Highlights @ *SCAPE Playspace (Level 1)

Welcome speech by Mr Jason Foo, CEO of Alzheimer’s Disease Association

Our very special Line Dance segment will be performed by ADA Family of Wisdom clients together with their enthusiastic family caregivers, domestic helpers, friends and staff. A dance troupe of 20 participants, this line dance will be led by FOW client Ms Nellie Chua, who used to be a line dance instructor at her local community centre.

Featuring SoundBeam, ADA’s Family of Wisdom clients, family caregivers, domestic helpers and staff will be using the revolutionary assistive music technology to create delightful music for all!

Supported by Health Promotion Board, this 15-minute skit “Mama” tells the story of a 60-year-old widow and her daughter Mei. Being a filial only child, Mei starts to discover that her mother has been very forgetful, confused with meal times and misplacing her things. During the skit, watch as Mei unravels the change of behaviour in her mother, and discovers avenues of help for her family.

Titled “Drumming With One Heart Beat”, we take things to another level with a mass drumming session. Persons with dementia, family members and members of the public are welcome to jump in and jam together, as we take you on an engaging journey to create rhythm and beat.

Fringe Activities @ *SCAPE Gallery (Level 5)

Part of the Forget-Us-Not initiative.

Unlike a conventional theatre show, there is no script in Playback Theatre. Come build a community dialogue with us through this interactive format, as we share experiences of how dementia has changed family life, the challenges and joys of being a caregiver, or even personal anecdotes if you are a person living with dementia yourself.

Seats are limited so register early to secure your spot!

Directed in 2017 by Malaysian film by director Jess Teong, ‘The Kid From The Big Apple 2: Before We Forget’ gives us a Southeast-Asian take on caregiving, highlighting issues and challenges that arise when a family embarks on their journey with dementia. Join us as we go on this delicate and emotional journey about dementia, denial and identity, and how a family is ultimately brought together with hope, #DespiteDementia.

Seats are limited so register early to secure your spot!

In this engaging panel discussion immediately following the movie screening, ADA is proud to present Ms Kate Swaffer, advocate and activist for dementia and Co-founder and Co-chair of Dementia Alliance International, as well as a local person with dementia and their caregiver. The dialogue session will cover topics such as the common misconceptions surrounding dementia, loss of identity for the person with dementia and common support services available to caregivers.
