September brings with it the annual World Alzheimer’s Month (WAM), when we put the spotlight back on dementia and how persons with dementia and their loved ones are affected by it. It’s a time when stories of courage, resilience, compassion, and love remind us of how we can all make a difference, even in small acts of kindness and understanding.

As part of our activities for WAM2019, ADA is holding the WAM2019 Carnival on World Alzheimer’s Day – 21 September 2019. The carnival is a free admission, full-day funfair that’s open to the public, so all can come together and have good fun for a good cause! Join us for carnival staples like games and snacks, and a myriad of edu-tainment booths where you can learn more about dementia and the various dementia management programmes.

The theme for this year is “Let’s Talk About Dementia: End The Stigma”, which ties in with our brand-new awareness campaign, #DespiteDementia. Through this campaign, we hope to reduce the stigma in Singapore on persons with dementia and their caregivers. Those living with dementia are more than their label and should not be held back by the condition or the stigma associated with it.

Help us spread the word by sending this to anyone you know who would be interested in reading this e-newsletter. They can also subscribe to receive future issues.

Love For All Seasons, a charity concert organised by ADA, returns this October 2019! All funds will go towards our programmes and services as well as to provide subsidies for families who cannot keep up with the heavy cost of dementia care.
