DECEMBER 2019
December rolls around yet again, bringing with it the end of another year. It’s a good time to reflect on our work this past year, as well as look forward to what we can keep doing in the coming year.
One of the highlights of 2019 for us was the launch of the #DespiteDementia campaign – our effort to reduce the social stigma of those living with dementia, their families, and the communities around them. Particularly, in the first phase of the campaign, we’re putting the focus on those living with dementia, and what they can do, instead of what they cannot do. We hope to share with Singapore that in spite of the very real challenges they face, persons with dementia are able to live happy, fulfilling and meaningful lives like everyone else.
This work starts from the little things we can do for those affected by dementia, to spread the word and combat dementia stigma, and we need your help to make this movement really make waves. The upcoming festivities, where we’ll be spending time with family and friends, give us wonderful opportunities to get the ball rolling. Be a part of the #DespiteDementia movement.
If you think there is someone who would make a great advocate for persons with dementia, send this e-newsletter to them and help them kick-start their journey to learn more about dementia. They can also subscribe to receive future issues of our e-newsletter.

People living with dementia face challenges unlike most of us, but with the support of those around them, they have the ability to thrive. Mr Peter Lim has been diagnosed with dementia for a decade, but he does not allow this condition to define him: “I live my life with dignity and pride, despite dementia.” Hear it from Peter and his supportive wife, Quee Eng, and son, Daniel, as they present the Power of Family.
