This September, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (Jurong Health) will be playing host to ADA in honour of World Alzheimer’s Month 2017 (WAM).
The event will take place on 21 and 22 September, 9am to 4pm, and aims to educate and raise awareness of dementia, as well as promote engagement with persons with dementia through meaningful activities. Visitors will be able to attend public forums, workshops, enjoy performances and take part in mass physical exercises.
ADA will be setting up several booths at the event this year with the help of various partners, including SAGE, Singapore Association for Mental Health, Fei Yue, Jaga-Me and Forget Us Not.
WAM is an international campaign involving various associations and groups across the globe. These charities raise awareness for the disease through many activities such as fundraising events and memory walks. This edition of WAM will focus on the importance of early diagnosis. As early detection is often overlooked, this campaign hopes to highlight the many positive impacts it can make on a person with dementia’s quality of life.
The WAM event offers a unique chance to create a dialogue about the disease, and offer insights on how society and governing bodies can work together to improve the lives of persons with dementia and their loved ones.
