This option aims to offer a smoother and more user-friendly experience for members who are more comfortable communicating in Mandarin.

You may have noticed in the recent update of CARA that the CARA mobile app now offers the option for users to switch to Mandarin. This is a significant milestone for CARA in our commitment to continually enhance user experience.

By making more features in the app available in Mandarin, such as the Report Missing Person feature, members who are more comfortable navigating the app in Mandarin can have a smoother and more user-friendly experience, especially for caregivers who need to input the details of their loved one with dementia to submit a report should they be missing.

Similarly, should a member of the public notice a missing person with dementia on their own and in need of assistance, he or she has the option to view the instructions on how to contact the loved ones of the person with dementia (shown when they scan the QR code on the person’s CARA card) in Mandarin.

Such an option not only provides convenience but is also key to being able to provide an accurate report of the missing person with dementia. For instance, the more detailed the description of the clothes the person had on when he or she went missing, the more efficient the search will be.

New users can appreciate the increased accessibility of the app starting from the sign-up page. Prospective members can now register in Chinese, in addition to English, which bolsters our Back to the Heartlands outreach efforts targeting heartland residents, specifically seniors.

Granted, there are segments such as CARA’s list of care partners and suitable health programmes, including services supporting caregivers, that have yet to be translated into Mandarin. Rest assured the app is constantly being upgraded. In the meantime, though, members can also choose to click on the My Radio link for select podcasts in Mandarin, like the one on staying “Stronger for Longer”.
