More than 200 people gathered for a celebration of love in ADA’s charity concert to raise funds and spread awareness for dementia and various support programmes.
On 25 October 2018, more than 200 people gathered for ADA’s fundraising concert. Entitled Love for All Seasons, the concert was held at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Recital Studio and featured Angela Saik, Donnie Chan and Robert Seng who put on a captivating performance.
The audience, which include persons with dementia and their caregivers, were treated to timeless melodies in Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Besides raising funds for ADA, the event also helped to create greater awareness and understanding of dementia, and reduce the stigma that is associated with it.
The sold-out concert raised more than $40,000, which will help to fund our awareness and caregiver support programmes, as well as provide subsidies for families who cannot keep up with the heavy cost of dementia care.
A Night For Love
The concert saw Angela Saik, Donnie Chan and Robert Seng bring the audience back in time with their renditions of evergreen hits such as Teresa Teng’s The Moon Represents My heart and Don Mclean’s Vincent. The classic set list set the mood for the night, which had the audience singing and dancing along. Reflecting on the night’s performances, audience member S K Koh said, “I really enjoyed the concert. It was a very light-hearted affair! Keep up the good work, and I look forward to more of such fundraising events!”
For Angela, there were multiple reasons to pick ADA as a beneficiary. One was the lack of support and attention for causes that are largely about the elderly. There was also her grandmother’s personal journey that motivated her. “On a personal level, my maternal grandmother has Alzheimer’s Disease at its severe stage, and through her journey, I saw how much emotional and physical struggles she had to go through.”
It was with a heart of love that the performers sang, and with the support from the sponsors and the audience, the night was truly a celebration of love, making the concert an aptly named one. As ADA’s Chief Executive Officer Jason Foo said, “The concert being titled Love for All Seasons is appropriate. It is love that keeps caregivers going through their caregiving journey. It is love that brings people like Angela, Donnie and Robert to make time from their busy schedules to help raise funds for non-profit organisations. It is also love that brought all of us here to enjoy the music and also to raise funds for ADA.”
ADA would also like to acknowledge ISO-Team Corporation Pte Ltd, Ascension International Pte Ltd, NeXT Career Consulting Group, Asia, Singapore Pools (Private) Limited, Deloitte & Touche Management Services and many other individuals for their generosity and support to this fundraising concert.
