On 4 July 2019, ADA was honoured to receive a whopping S$1 million donation from leading palm oil company, Musim Mas Holdings. The generous donation is set to help improve the lives of those living with dementia and caregivers, and will go towards providing one year of financial assistance for over 300 families who have loved ones with dementia who may not be able to afford the fees at New Horizon Centres.

On 16 May 2019, ADA Café was honoured to welcome the Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Positive Ageing, as they were in town to attend the Active Ageing Symposium in Singapore. The Jockey Club Centre works specifically with persons with dementia as well as the family caregivers in Hong Kong, similar to ADA.

In February 2019, clients at New Horizon Centre (Bukit Batok) were greeted to a new design with a refreshing look after three months of renovation! The 25-year-old day care centre has been revamped completely with outward looking interiors that allow daylight to stream through its coloured glass panels.

More than 5,600 across Singapore participated in a survey by the Singapore Management University (SMU) and Alzheimer’s Disease Association, which revealed that nearly 3 in 4 persons with dementia feel rejection and loneliness, and more than half feel that others act as though they are less competent due to their condition.
